🧠 The Identity First Rule

Why your mindset matters more than your to-do list

BE → DO → HAVE → FEEL

Most people get the success formula wrong. They think:

HAVE → DO → BE → FEEL
“When I have the right skills/time/money, I’ll do the right things… & then I’ll be the person I want to be.”

It sounds logical, but it’s backwards. That approach keeps you waiting until conditions are “perfect,” which means you never actually start.

The Strong Code flips the script:
BE → DO → HAVE → FEEL

🪞 Start with BE

Who you believe yourself to be determines what you do — & what you do determines what you have.

If you see yourself as “someone who’s bad at fitness,” you’ll act in ways that reinforce that belief — skipping workouts, making excuses, letting other things take priority.

If you adopt the identity of “I’m an athlete in training,” your choices shift. Training becomes a normal part of your day — not a chore, but part of who you are.

🎯 DO Follows BE

Once you decide on your identity, your actions naturally line up.
Athletes train. Writers write. Leaders lead.

It’s not about willpower — it’s about alignment. When your self-image matches your goal, your daily actions stop feeling forced & start feeling inevitable.

🏆 HAVE is the Result

When you live from identity, the results come as a side effect.
You don’t “try” to get fit — you become fit because your choices, day after day, compound into the result.

🛠 How to Apply the Identity First Rule

Choose Your Identity 🪞 Decide who you need to be to reach your goal.
Align Daily Actions 🎯 Match your Five Codes (Helmet, Sword, Shield, Boots, Amulet) to that identity.
Track Wins 📈 Every completed action is evidence reinforcing your identity.
Repeat 🔄 The more evidence you collect, the more your identity locks in.

📌 Examples

🏃‍♂️ Goal: Run a 5K
Old Mindset: “I’m trying to run.”
Identity First: “I’m a runner.”

✍️ Goal: Write a book
Old Mindset: “I’m trying to write.”
Identity First: “I’m a writer.”

🥗 Goal: Eat healthier
Old Mindset: “I’m trying to cut junk food.”
Identity First: “I’m someone who fuels my body for performance.”

💡 Why This Works

When you focus on identity first, you’re not relying on bursts of motivation. You’re building a foundation — a mindset that makes action natural & sustainable.

Instead of asking, “Do I feel like doing this?” you ask, “What would the person I want to BE do right now?”
